This is an incredible story of vision, cooperation, opportunity and long term investment in this part of Miami called Little Haiti.
Imagine that you own a restaurant that sells to a particular demographic and culture which may be closer to your own, but over time gentrification sets in and your customer base vanishes, What do you do? Pack up and leave? Is that even an option? Or do you dig in, adapt and recreate yourself and your business to learn how to best serve your new customer base.
This is the story which chronicles the action taken by Naomi ‘s garden Restaurant and Lounge, located in Miami’s little Haiti. Naomi’s Garden was an Israeli health food cart which catered to the frugal yet health food conscious diner. As the neighborhood changed, it embraced the challenges presented and prospered through its partnership and cooperation with Haitian cooks as hired employees which resulted in a very successful long term patronage by the emerging Haitian residents.
Upon my next visit to Florida I will make sure to visit Naomi’s Garden Restaurant and Lounge to sample the food and experience the history as told in the embedded YouTube video.
